Well, I don't know if you remember this, but I painted it on location in Placitas last week and I wasn't happy with it. So, I reworked it and this is my final painting. I like it!

I felt the need to paint a wild little bed if iris today! Even though this painting is colorful and lively, it gives me a restful feeling. I also painted a couple of black and white commissioned paintings that you can see on my regular blog, www.deesanchezpaints.com.

I could paint landscapes like this all day - I start with a photo or an idea, then I put it away and the painting becomes all about the process; laying colors down next to each other, working with color energy and vibration. This makes me want to go on a day trip, but I know it's too early.

The aspens are back! This was such fun to paint - just a quick loose sketch of where the tree trunks were going and the rest was just intuitive. I could paint this way all day.

"PLACITAS VISTA"

This is a view from the hills of Placitas to the mesas of the west. The area between these two spots is the valley of the Rio Grande and the road that goes to Santa Fe. Love this place. My first landscape of the 150 show and of course, it had to be Taos.

And of course it had to be Taos in the fall, the most beautiful time of year. My favorite parts of this painting are the shadows on the mountains.

I am on a roll now (I hope) and just plan to keep on going.

Well, it's actually begun - the first painting for my 150 CHALLENGE SHOW that will open June 1, 2012 at Weems Old Town. I had to start it off with sunflowers, because that was my subject when I took my first painting to Weems back in 2001. I'm in the process of making a logbook for Weems so if you're interested in purchasing this painting, follow the simple instructions below:

1. If you see a painting you like on this blog and might want to purchase, write down the number and title.

2. There are three ways to get your information to us:

a. Call Weems Gallery at 505-764-0302 and give them you name and the number and title of each painting that you are interested in purchasing.

b. Email Jane at weems@weemsgallery.com and give them your name and the number and title of each painting you are interested in purchasing.

c. Call me at 505-792-1030 with your name and the number and title of each painting you are interested in purchasing.

If you are coming to the show in person on June 1, a sticker with your name on it will be on each painting you have chosen. If you are an online customer, your sticker will also be on each painting you've chosen. When the show starts, if no one else has a sticker on your painting, it is yours for $150. If two or more people have stickers on a painting, a quick drawing will be held. So pick your favorites, and a back up painting or two, and let's get this show on the road!
